Houston Rodeo…

So this is the 2nd time since we’ve lived in Texas that the Houston Rodeo was going to be in town.  Gary and I hadn’t even thought about going until my friend Melanie was like we’re going to the rodeo and y’all are going with us.  I didn’t think much about it till she told me that Brandon (her husband got us tickets to go and see Brad Paisley at the rodeo).  So of course I got excited b/c I love Brad Paisley!  So a couple weeks ago on a beautiful Thursday here in Texas they picked me up (Gary wasn’t able to go with us 🙁 ) and we went to the rodeo.  With the rodeo was a carnival/fair type atmosphere with rides, games and tons of food!  We walked around the grounds for a little while so that their beautiful little girl could ride a few rides, a camel and so I could also see lots of animals.  There was a rather large cow that looked like a giant stuffed animal, it was beautiful (I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really was).  After we grabbed a bite to eat (CORNDOG for me of course 🙂 ), we headed into the rodeo.  It was a sight to see.  Cowboys wrangling things and riding bareback.  High school students trying to catch themselves a cow that they could call theirs, little kids (ages 5-6) trying to hold onto sheep as they rode them as far as they could and then cowgirls ridding around barrels.  It was an experience.  But then came Brad Paisley.  A rodeo concert isn’t what you call a real concert, we were in the Texans stadium and it was packed so they set Brad on a revolving stage.  He played his many paisley designed guitars, came out and greeted his fans and had a lot of fun while he performed.  The rodeo was a lot of fun, and hopefully next year I’ll get to go back and experience it again (well, as long as I get to listen to a great country artist!!).  Here’s a few shots I snapped of Melanie’s amazing family and of Brad that night…
