The

Senior Portraits

my little sister… {North Carolina, Senior Portrait Photographer}

I have no idea where to start considering this post is about my little sister…  I’ll start photo and work my way to sappy!!  Cara was down in Texas visiting for Christmas and she told me then that when I came to NC for her graduation that I was taking her senior pictures.  Knowing me I probably said some smart comment and she smarted back and then I gave her a look that could kill and she more than likely said “let’s hug about it” (my all time least favorite saying EVER… it’s just an obnoxious saying, mainly b/c of the way she says it and her hand motions 🙂 LOVE YOU CARA!!).  I of course said I would take her photos, when she was a senior in high school I took her photos… so I wasn’t about to not take her college ones.  As the time got closer for us to head to NC I asked her what day/time she had left open for us to do a session and of course she said Saturday morning.  I informed her that b/c she left the morning open and the lights better right as the sun’s coming up that we would be shooting at 6:25 in the morning… hahaha (I wasn’t trying to be the mean older sister, I really did just want good photos!!).  So Cara arrived at my hotel room at 6am and we headed to Blowing Rock for a shoot.  We were the only two people awake in that sleepy little town (well except for the two police cars who were watching what we were up to).  We shot for about 30 mins and it started to rain!!!!!!  This was supposed to be a 2 hour shoot (as you can probably guess, I wasn’t too happy with the rain)… thankfully most of the downtown area where we were was covered so we were able to stay out a little longer.  I’m just glad we didn’t get rained out!

Cara, thank you so much for actually wanting me to take your senior portraits for the 2nd time and for being such a trooper in the rain and at 6am!!  Thank you for being an awesome little sister.  I know we haven’t always gotten along, but I’m glad that we love each other no matter what.  Thank you for putting up with me being a butt head and a mean older sister at times, thank you for letting me give you a good swift kick in the butt when you need it, thank you for challenging me to be better and to never stop believing in myself, and thank you for always being there for me when the world always seemed to change around us.  Cara I love you so much and I am so incredibly proud of you.  You may not always do things the way I think you should and you may get mad when I tell you are being dumb, but you have paved your own way and always been your own unique, crazy and weird self.  You have stuck to your guns and not let a sole get in your way even if it has really hurt you.  I am so proud of you for going in a career direction that puts others completely before yourself, for being willing to do what most people wont/even can do.  I am proud of you for who you are and for what you stand for.  Don’t ever change and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something.  Stay true to who you are, cling to God and get to know His heart more and more each day.  Know that I am always here for you and that I love you!!!
