I met Kristen over 14 years ago when I photographed her and her sister’s high school senior photos. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph her and her family again and again, and it has been an honor. I love this family so much and have cherished every time I’ve gotten to spend time with them. In 2020, I saw them all for Kristen’s sister’s wedding that I photographed. At the time, Kristen and Arzhang were dating, so I got to meet him then! When Kristen contacted me to talk about flying down to Puerto Rico to photograph her and Arzhang’s wedding, I had to pinch myself.
Most would think I was pinching myself because it was an amazing opportunity (and it was), but more than the chance to travel somewhere amazing to document a wedding, I was over the moon that I was going to get to photograph my friend’s wedding. I have watched her go from a high school senior to the amazing woman she is today. I have loved getting to know her over these many years, and I am pretty sure there will be a lot more years of getting to know one another. It was an honor to spend a few days with her & Arzhang and their people in beautiful Old San Juan.
Old San Juan Wedding at Hotel El Convento
Kristen and Arzhang were married at a plaza a short walk from Hotel El Convento. And y’all, it was BEAUTIFUL!!! For a lot of the day, we were watching the weather because it wasn’t looking good for the ceremony/portrait time. But about an hour before the ceremony, the chance of rain went away, and Kristen and Arzhang had blue skies! Following their ceremony, their guests walked back to the hotel for cocktail hour, and Kristen, Arzhang, and I had a little fun in a few different spots. One of the things Kristen and Arzhang wanted were portraits in Old San Juan. They got them, and I am so excited about their portraits.
We went straight from portraits into the room where the reception was going to be for them to have a look at it. I loved getting to be there to watch their reactions when they saw it all finished for the first time, with all the candles lit and ready for their celebration! And y’all, celebrate they did! They danced, ate, and had the best time!
