Downtown Charleston Couples Session | Meghan & Mark

Meghan & I have followed each other on social media for a while now and it’s been fun to get to know her that way and y’all I was soo excited to finally meet her in person over the summer. When I was in Charleston in June we finally got to meet when I photographed her and her husband Mark and their sweet pup Larry!! A few days prior to the session Meghan reached out to ask me if we could throw a surprise for Mark into the session. I very much said YES… but gosh when someone asks me to throw a surprise in it means I’m ALL nerves until it happens and in their case I was in charge of it happening (no pressure!!!)

Mark had been gone for work so he gotten home a few hours prior to the session (Mark, thank you for being a total trooper and being willing to do a session after traveling all day!!!!). Because of this, and I knew Meghan was excited for the surprise I decided to start the session and then just a few minutes in make it happen!!! So after photos with Larry and then a few couples photos I had the two of them turn towards one another. Hand in hand looking at one another I asked them to tell one another starting with Mark (Or at least I’m pretty sure we started with Mark) what they were most looking forward to in the coming year. I wasn’t up close and personal but Mark said something along the lines of “Getting to be a dad” and then to his comment Meghan let him know that sure enough he was going to be a dad!!! Yep I cried, I smiled… they cried, they smiled and it was soo soo special to witness and document!!!

We then spent the next half hour smiling and documenting them in downtown Charleston and y’all I loved every second of it. The way Meghan & Mark look at one another shows you how much they love each other and that love was a joy to document!! Here are a few of my favorite images from their session!!

I was standing on a porch in Highlands last fall, watching the fog roll down over the mountains while a bride got her veil pinned in by her mom. Nobody was rushing. There was coffee going cold on a side table and somebody’s grandfather telling a story in the next room. And I remember thinking: […]

Anna & Ramsey reached out a few months prior to their wedding day to see if I was available for their intimate wedding day in Highlands, NC at Old Edwards Inn. I was over the moon that I was available and that it would be the wedding that my 2025 wedding season ended with. The […]
