I owe a BIG thank you to these two!!

Gary and I had been in Texas for about 4 months and I realized that I really wanted to dive into photography.  I didn’t want it to just be my hobby, I wanted to pursue it with the hope of one day having it be the only thing I do for a living.  So I started asking friends if they’d be guinea pigs for me and then actually started booking sessions.  I realized though that I didn’t want to just do portrait sessions, I really wanted to do weddings and events too!!  So I started googling photographers in the Richmond/Houston area that are wedding photographers.  I’d look at their work and then look at their pictures (I know you can’t judge a book by it’s cover but I at least wanted to see what they looked like 🙂 ).  So I stumbled on Janine’s website.  I simply shot her an email (not even thinking she’d respond) asking if she let photographers tag along with her to weddings or anything like that.  Well guess what, SHE RESPONDED!!!  🙂 I was soo happy, and I was even happier when she said she’d love for me to join her at a wedding she had coming up.  So the day came and I met her at the wedding and I felt like we just clicked (I don’t know how she felt… she was probably like, who’s this crazy girl that won’t stop asking me questions!).  After that wedding she’d shoot me emails asking if I wanted to tag along or 2nd shoot with her and if I’m not doing anything I jump at the opportunity.  Janine is an awesome “mentor” (if that’s what you want to call it)… and she’s an awesome friend.  I love joining her at weddings.  I love to see how she does things, but I also love just hanging out with her.  She’s a lot of fun and I’m so glad I took the risk to shoot her an email.  Janine thank you for EVERYTHING you have shown me and for being a great friend!!

Janine ended up giving my name to Scott who’s also a wedding photographer in Houston.  He asked me to 2nd shoot for him a little over a year ago, and I’ve now 2nd shot a handful of weddings with him.  Scott has been a huge help/resource and I have bugged him to death with questions :).  Scott thanks for putting up with me!

A few weeks ago the three of us met up downtown Houston to snap a few pictures of one another.  We had so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again.  Here’s a few shots of Janine and Scott from the shoot…

Photography is in my blood and seeking truth is in my soul. Which is a deep way of saying, I’ve loved to take photos for a really long time, y’all. I’d love to share my story with you then listen to yours.

I grew up in a house full of photos. My dad or I when I was old enough, was always behind a camera…family dinners, road trips, Sunday afternoons that probably didn’t seem worth documenting but somehow always were. That’s where I fell in love with this work. And somewhere along the way, I also learned […]

Meredith and J.G. invited their family and friends to the Piermont Cottage, which is part of Old Edwards Inn for brunch and farewells the morning after their wedding day.
The morning was full stories that were filled with laughter and joy!! It was the perfect way to end an amazing weekend. Venue  | The Farm […]

Meredith and John Grady were married on a beautiful, Friday afternoon in July in Highlands, North Carolina. Meredith began her day at the Farm at Old Edwards Inn, surrounded by so many incredible women in her life. The morning was full of joy, love, and an abundance of happy tears. After Meredith slipped into her […]
