Greenville Wedding Photographer | Emily & James

I HATE surprises… LIKE REALLY HATE SURPRISES… BUT I sure do love surprising other people!!!!  When James’ mom contacted me in the spring about taking engagement photos of Emily & James when they were in South Carolina for a wedding (they live in Texas) I totally was on board.  #1 because well I love documenting love.  #2 because I actually photographed Emily’s High School Senior photos a few years back when I was living in Texas… and one thing I’ve said over and over is how much I’d love to be able to document my senior girls when they got married so this just made me all sorts of happy!!!  But it also meant I couldn’t chat with Emily about the session at all.

Turns out Nancy (James’ mom) was going to keep the surprise from both of them until they pulled up and saw me…. unfortunately due to some kinks in the plan she had to tell Emily the day of the session so she would know there was actually a reason for them leaving Charleston to come to the Greenville area!!!!  Emily said when she found out she was soo excited & I’m pretty sure she still was when she pulled up and we hugged!!!!  So fun to see a familiar Texas face here in South Carolina!!!!

Emily & James will be tying the knot next year in Texas, but ohh what a joy it was to document the two of them for their engagement photos here in South Carolina (even if it was crazy hot… and let me say, it was hot for SC standards… not TEXAS hot, because two days later I was hit with crazy Texas hot and there is a difference… a BIG difference).  I loved getting to catch up with Emily & get to know James… but more than that… I LOVED getting to see these two interact because good gravy they are super sweet to each other!!!  I so enjoyed being around Emily & James… from the way they bantered, to the way they held hands, to the way they looked so adoringly at each other… ahhhh it was such a fun Sunday evening!!

Nancy, thank you for wanting me to photograph these two!!! I loved being part of such a fun surprise!!!  Next time you’re back in the Greenville area please bug me because I’d love to see you!!  Emily & James, I’m so glad y’all were excited about the session!!!  I had the best time with you two!!! Looking forward to hearing all about the wedding planning & to y’all becoming husband and wife!!! To everyone else…. I hope y’all enjoy a few of James & Emily’s engagement photos!!!

Photography is in my blood and seeking truth is in my soul. Which is a deep way of saying, I’ve loved to take photos for a really long time, y’all. I’d love to share my story with you then listen to yours.

I photographed a wedding at a private estate two years ago where hair and makeup ran behind. We went from having an hour and a half for all of the portraits to having thirty minutes, and that thirty minutes still had to cover the bride and groom, the wedding party, and both families. While we […]

Palm Springs, California is one of those places you visit and you’ll never forget!! I loved my time there and really enjoyed my time with Sasha & Chloe for their session amongst the windmills!! We had so much fun and I’m so excited to share a handful of my favorite images from my session with […]

I was standing on a porch in Highlands last fall, watching the fog roll down over the mountains while a bride got her veil pinned in by her mom. Nobody was rushing. There was coffee going cold on a side table and somebody’s grandfather telling a story in the next room. And I remember thinking: […]
