Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden Engagement Session – Zoe & Mac

On this chilly day I thought I’d look back at Zoe & Mac’s summer engagement session at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens outside Charlotte, NC.  I had never been to the gardens before but after exploring them with Zoe & Mac I want to go back SOON!!  We met up on a Tuesday evening in June for their engagement session and while we knew there was a slim chance of rain it was looking pretty good for the session and we went ahead with it.

I arrived at the gardens a little before the two of them so I could wander around and scout out where we were going to do everything… halfway through my walk around it started POURING.  At that point there was no cancelling the session because they were almost there and I was there so we decided to go with it and I am soo glad we did.  I’ve never been more thankful for a location that has both beautiful outdoor locations AND an indoor location just in case.  We spent most of the session in the Orchid Conservatory and it was BEAUTIFUL!!  I couldn’t stop smiling at these two whom are SMITTEN with one another.

As we were walking out of the conservatory to say goodbye it stopped raining!!  So me being me, knowing we had LITTLE daylight left.. Said “let’s just do a few more outside.”  I’m soo glad we did because even though it was a tad humid the grounds were the perfect backdrop for these two.  I am so excited to share a few of my favorite images from their engagement session and even more excited for their summer wedding that’s coming up!!

When couples ask me about Charleston wedding season, I always start with the same honest truth: Charleston is gorgeous year-round, but timing makes all the difference for your photos. After photographing dozens of weddings in this beautiful city, I’ve learned which months give you that dreamy, effortless light and which ones require some serious strategy […]
