6 Tips to Make Sure your Senior Photos Stand the Test of Time

Your senior year of high school is such an exciting time. It’s a time filled with a lot of lasts—last football game, last prom, last summer before college. But before you say goodbye to high school, you should make sure you have some fantastic senior photos that will stand the test of time.

Senior photos are like a rite of passage. And they’re a perfect way to capture this particular time in your life.

But how the heck do you make sure your photos are timeless? How do you make sure you don’t look back on your photos 10, 15, or 20 years from now and cringe?

Here are some senior photo tips to help you out:

Keep it classic.

When it comes to your outfit and location, you want to choose classic options that won’t look outdated in a few years. Avoid trendy outfits and places that might not stand the test of time. Instead, opt for timeless options like a simple dress or suit and a classic outdoor area. Some of my favorite senior photo locations in Spartanburg are: downtown and at Milliken.

Keep it simple.

Less is more when it comes to senior photos or any professional photos in general. You don’t need a lot of props or elaborate setups to create stunning photos. Keep things simple and let your personality shine through. A natural smile and classic pose can go a long way.

Get professional hair and makeup.

Investing in professional hair and makeup can make a huge difference in how you look in your photos. It’s also a great way to pamper yourself and feel confident on the day of your shoot.

Bring meaningful props.

While you don’t want to go overboard with props, bringing a few meaningful items can add a personal touch to your photos. By “few,” I mean like 2-3 things. Think about items that represent your hobbies and interests or items that have sentimental value. This could be anything from a musical instrument to a favorite book.

Work with a professional photographer.

To truly capture the essence of this special time in your life, you need to work with a professional photographer. A professional photographer will have the experience and equipment to capture you in the best possible light. They can also help you choose a location and outfit that will look great in your photos.

Have fun!

Finally, remember to have fun! Your senior year is a special time in your life, and your senior photos should reflect that. Relax, be yourself, and enjoy the experience. If you’re having fun, it will show in your photos.
