There are people you run across in life that after meeting them you wish you had more time with them… for me one of those people is Rachel!!! A few weeks back I met Rachel in downtown Spartanburg, for her senior photos. She’s graduating from Upstate!! The weekend of her scheduled session it called for rain… ALL WEEKEND!!! Unfortunately, we had no other choice but to shoot rain or shine because Rachel was heading back to Colorado within days so there weren’t any days that we could switch it to. So after watching the weather and radar we decided to give the session a go on that Friday evening (because Saturday & Sunday evening were supposed to be washouts… OHHHH how they were wrong about Saturday… I should have gone to school to be a weather woman!!!)… anyways… on my way downtown it started to VERY lightly sprinkle. I was like ohh no!! Chatted with Rachel on her way to meet me and she said “let’s give it a try”… so with drizzle coming down we did it… we photographed her senior photos in the rain… and y’all she was awesome about it. I would have been freaking out about my hair, etc.. etc.. but the rain didn’t even phase her, she just kept a smile on her face & kept on like it was a sunny day (even when the rain got heavier & heavier!!). Ohh and the rain wasn’t our only obstacle… someones prom was going on so there were TONS of people downtown taking over all the covered areas I was planning on using!!! Boy was I glad that Rachel was so flexible and up for whatever!!!
Rachel has a heart of gold!! In the small amount of time I was with her I saw how big her heart is… how much she LOVES & adores her family & God… how much she puts God at the center of everything & serves others because that’s who she is. This young lady taught me so much in that hour together & I can’t thank her enough. I can’t thank her enough for the example she sets to others. She has a heart that wants to do for others & put others first and it was such an honor to get to know just a small piece of who she is & who & for what her heart & life beat for!!!
Not only is Rachel’s heart beautiful but look at her smile!!!! Rachel, thank you for reminding me to smile… despite the rain!!!!
AHH I love this purple color sooo soo much!!!!! I am also insanely jealous of Rachel’s tanned skin!!! For those of you who don’t know… I used to hop in the sun every chance I got/I ran track so I was pretty dark year round… had Kenzie and well now I hate being in the sun :)… so I will proudly love my whiteness :)!!! Rachel is a golfer at Upstate so she is always out in the sun & has some pretty awesome tan lines ;)!!! Reminded me of my awesome track tan lines!!!!
Rachel, it was such a pleasure to spend a Friday evening with you!!! Loved getting to know you & laugh with you!!! You are such a blessing & I am excited to see what God has in store for you & your future!! Congratulations on graduating & good luck in Colorado!!! If you make it back to SC please be sure to yell at me or if we make it your way I’ll be sure to yell at you because I would LOVE to spend more time with you!!! Thank you for being the woman God has called you to be & for the example you set to everyone around you!!!!!
