High school carries a lot of memories for me. Some good, some bad… I’m not going to lie, high school was not one of my favorites. I went to 3 different high schools (in totally different cities) so that right there, well it made high school hard. I’m thankful for the friends & teachers that I had at all three of those high schools though… the one common thing each of them had… was track & theater classes for me. Those two things, were what I loved to do more than anything in high school. Sure, I was part of clubs, and played other sports… but track & theater class… well those were my happy places.
Jump 5 years after graduating high school & I was found working with our youth group… specifically the high school girls in our churches youth group… I LOVED IT!! Which then had me photographing high school seniors, which I LOVED also. As much as high school wasn’t my favorite season of life thus far it’s that age group that I’ve been drawn to since. There’s just something about that age… especially juniors & seniors… you’re at the age where you are ready to be on your own, you’re trying to figure out where you’re going to to go college, if you’re going to go to college, what you want to do with the rest of your life, am I still going to have the same best friend I’ve had for x amount of years, will I marry my high school sweet heart… ahhh there’s so many exciting yet terrifying things about that time in someone’s life… and you’re probably asking yourself… why oh why do you feel drawn to them. The best answer I can give you for that is that God has put that age group on my heart. I love being able to walk along side of them during their ups and downs and being able to help them as they make those next moves in their lives… and I LOVE getting to photograph them because they are just so excited & terrified all in one 🙂 so that right there makes for a fun photo session. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE photographing high school seniors!!!!
A few Friday’s ago I met Bailey & her mom in downtown Spartanburg to take photos!! Bailey is a junior (almost senior!!!!!) & it was soo much fun spending a beautiful, April evening with her!!!
