Greenville Photographer | Spartanburg Photographer | Q&A

Houston, TX Senior Portrait Photographer - Kendra Martin Photography

Happy Wednesday!!!! I hope you all are having a wonderful day!! I am going to say that I am LOVING doing these Q&A with Kendra posts (yes I realize this is really only my second one, but so far so much fun!!! if you missed last weeks about the type of photographer I am, be sure to check it out!!).  Today’s question is about the types of images I give my clients:  More specifically… Do we receive all color, black & white, combination, etc?

For me the answer to this question is:  it depends on the wedding or session!!! 🙂 Some of you are probably thinking “really Kendra, that’s your answer to that question” :)!!!!  And yes, it is my answer!!!  There are too many different factors that play into any given image that I photograph and then edit & then give to my clients… so yes, for me it depends :)!!

Kendra Martin Photography | Greenville Wedding PhotographerThere are times that I’ve only given color images and times that I’ve only given b/w images to a client, but I love being able to give a little bit of a mix of black & white & color images because I personally LOVE both!!!!  With that being said, I do not turn all my images that are color into b/w.  Yes, there will be some images that look awesome as both color & b/w and I will give BOTH to a client, but I do not do that for every single image that I deliver… Sometimes it is just in color or just in black & white.  As the photographer/artist it is totally my discretion as to what kinds of images I give based on what I think looks best and represents who I am as a photographer as well as those that I have photographed in those images.  Some images just need to be b/w or color and then other times I LOVE both and so you’ll get both!!!

I will then have people say “well your b/w images must be ‘mess ups’ that you’re just ‘saving’…”  This statement absolutely kills me, and I’m not quite sure where it comes from and why so many people think that is the case with b/w images.  Can I just respond to this by saying that I LOVE LOVE LOVE b/w images AND would shoot in b/w 100% of the time if I didn’t also love color images (I really learned the ins and outs of photography back in high school by shooting black & white film so it is something I love soo very much and just resonates with me)…. so for me when I give you a b/w image it is because I absolutely adore the image in black & white and want you to have it that way!!! So no, the black & white images you receive from me are not “mess ups” that I’m just trying to “fix or save” :)!!!!!!  I JUST LOVE THEM IN BLACK & WHITE!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’s so funny because when I decided to answer this question I was super excited and thought to myself that this would be an easy one because of how much I love both b/w & color images and love giving a little of both to my clients… but then I went to put words on a page and kind of just went blank & was like why on earth can I not answer this question very easily.  I didn’t want to over explain my reasoning and all that fun stuff when it came to this question… soo all of that to say I hope it makes sense :)!!!  Looking forward to next weeks question!!!  If you have any questions you’d like to ask please feel free to email them to me at kendramartinphotography@gmail.com or just fill out the contact form and send them over that way!!!  See y’all next week for another Q&A with Kendra!!!

Photography is in my blood and seeking truth is in my soul. Which is a deep way of saying, I’ve loved to take photos for a really long time, y’all. I’d love to share my story with you then listen to yours.

You know that warm, fuzzy feeling when you walk into a room and spot a familiar face? That sense of ease and comfort? Well, that’s what I aim to create every time I work with a couple or collaborate with fellow wedding professionals. I’m a big believer in the power of genuine connections, and I’ve […]

Imagine this: you and your partner, standing in a place that holds a special meaning, with a gentle breeze rustling through your hair. The two of you are laughing, maybe a little nervous at first, but gradually, you start to relax. That’s when the magic happens—the connection, the love, the story you’re writing together. This […]

In February I had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful editorial at Lowndes Grove which is in Charleston, SC. The venue is nestled in the back of a neighborhood on the river and it is incredible. There are so many amazing locations inside the house as well as outside to photograph weddings and portraits and […]
