I remember when Erin called me! I had been expecting her to call that Sunday afternoon but for some reason we still decided to head to HEB (grocery store in Texas) and get our weekly shopping done for the week. We had just hopped in the car and I felt my phone start vibrating and I realized it was Erin and I freaked out because I wasn’t in my office and in my element with anything in front of me (I’m definitely one that likes to take photography phone calls in my office, with the doors shut, pen & paper in hand… so I can be sure I don’t miss anything or forget to tell someone something)… so I had 5 – 10 minutes before we got home… I kept thinking to myself that Erin probably thinks I’m avoiding talking about photography & she’d probably go a different direction. Well we made it back to the house and I sprinted to my office (I totally left Gary with groceries and Kenzie to tend to 🙂 ) and continued chatting all things wedding & wedding photography 🙂 🙂 …. all that to say I still remember the first conversation I had with Erin and I remember thinking how I couldn’t wait to meet her. I know it was just a phone call, but I could just tell that this woman was kind, caring, and sweet and that I was really going to like her!!
I first met Erin & Clay when I photographed their engagement session on a RIDICULOUSLY COLD, TEXAS, DECEMBER DAY!!!!! I remember walking away from that session and thinking that I couldn’t wait till June to photograph their wedding day b/c they were so much fun!! June 21st arrived SUPER QUICK… actually April-June for me is just a blur and especially the days leading up to Erin & Clay’s wedding day… I was helping pack our UHaul on the 19th & 20th and by 7am on the 22nd I was in the car moving to South Carolina!! On the day of Erin & Clay’s wedding I was a whole bunch of emotions… excited, happy, sad, nervous… but the second I saw Erin walking down the courtyard at the church toward me and I saw her smile and saw how incredibly happy and excited she was… all of nerves/sadness just went away!! Erin is one of those people that just makes you feel at ease and I can’t explain it but every time I’ve been around her she just makes me feel incredibly comfortable and like I’ve known her for years!!! I have loved loved loved getting to know Erin & Clay since last fall & I couldn’t think of a more perfect bride & groom to have photographed during such a crazy time in my life!! Erin, you are an amazing woman & it truly was an honor to document your wedding day!! Speaking of wedding day… the whole day was AMAZING!!!!!!! From the weather, to the dresses, to the guys suits & socks :), to the flowers, cakes, reception & all the dancing and fun, to the way y’all said goodbye… the whole evening was so beautiful!!!! Erin & Clay, y’all were so incredibly sweet & welcoming and I sooo loved getting to celebrate y’alls day alongside your family & friends!!!!
Erin totally surprised Clay with the most amazing watch!!!! 🙂 it was a lot of fun to be in the room as he opened it!!!!
From the very first time we chatted about their wedding day Erin knew she & Clay wanted to do a first look!!! I had ZERO objections because I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE first looks. It’s an intimate time between the bride & groom. In the years I’ve been photographing weddings I’ve realized that when there’s no first look and then the timeline is packed there’s usually not a lot… if any time for the bride & groom to spend time alone on this important day (their day!!!)… so with a first look they get that time… just the two of them. I stand back just capturing it all & like with Erin & Clay’s getting a little teary eyed due to how happy they were to be getting married in a few short hours!!! They were so excited to see one another & I loved getting to document it!!!!
Erin, I love your smile!! I love how incredibly happy you were ALL day long!!!!!
Because they did a first look we were able to spend a lot of time capturing photos of the two of them as well as their awesome wedding party!!!!
And because I’m on a roll with choosing lots of photos for my posts be sure to check back at the end of the week to see more images from Erin & Clay’s wedding day!!!!!!
