This is a blog post that I’m not even sure where to begin. I will start off by saying… this is going to be one of two blog posts… I couldn’t narrow down the images for the blog so hopefully y’all will LOVE seeing these two cuties on two different occasions!! I have written and rewritten this blog and I came to the conclusion to write these two littles a letter… so here you go… (and yes it might be a little trip down memory lane & rambling a little because that’s just me…)
R & Q… good gravy am I going to miss seeing y’alls little faces in person when we move to Spartanburg in a little over a week. THANK GOODNESS FOR TECHNOLOGY!!! I guess I should start at the beginning… before there was a R & Q!!! Y’alls mommy & daddy were our first friends when we moved to Houston. They welcomed us with open arms and didn’t seem to care that I was their preacher’s daughter… they loved on us from the very first night we walked in the door of their (y’alls first home) home and have continued to love on our family ever since.
I remember praying with them and for them for children… A little over a year later they became pregnant with you two!!!! Ohh how happy they were and we were (me especially… I saw how much your mommy wanted a child to call her own and when God answered her prayers with not just one baby, but two I was over the moon for her). I remember the day I bumped into your mom and dad after their appointment to find out if y’all were girls/boys/one of each… I doubt that was when she was planning or even wanting to tell me (but I coaxed it out of her) but I was soooooo excited to find out they were having a boy & a girl!!! A LITTLE MATT & A LITTLE MEAGAN!!! YAY!!! 🙂 :). I remember you mom telling me that R was healthy but something was wrong with your heart Q… I love you both soo soo much and hadn’t even met you and in that moment my heart ached for your mommy & daddy… Those next 8 months (b/c y’all were a month early) had to be the hardest months ever with so many unknowns… But on June 3rd I got the phone call from your mom that y’all were coming… so you better believe it that Gary & I hauled ourselves down to Texas Children’s to be with your mommy & daddy and meet the two of you!! I think it had maybe been 30 minutes after the two of you were born that we walked into the room where your sweet momma was recovering and we were able to see R (Q you were rushed to the nicu… it might have been called something else… it’s been 4 years the details are blurry)… We were able to hold you R and I took photos of you and I just couldn’t believe it… you were here. After visiting for just a little bit we left your mom to rest and your dad took us over to meet Q. I couldn’t believe we were actually going to get to meet you that night… but we did!! They even allowed me to snap a few photos… Q you were so tiny and seeing those tubes and wires and everything broke my heart…. I knew it was what was best for you, but I knew how much your mommy & daddy wanted to just hold you and love on you because you and your brother were little gifts… amazing little gifts…. and y’all were finally here…
Wow, I can’t believe that was over 4 years ago. Y’all are still so little but soooo big at the same time (STOP GROWING)!! I have loved seeing the two of you become your own little selves these last 4 years. I love seeing the love you have for one another… R, you are such a little gentleman and I love how you are total boy but yet you love love love love love love love your sister sooo much!! I love both these kiddos the same, I really do… maybe I’m just a sucker for girls but something with Q has resonated with me since day one (maybe her sweet hugs and love during her recovery from heart surgery has a little to do with it 😉 )…. Q, you are an amazing little girl and God has given you a HUGE story to tell and you’re only 4!!! You are beautiful… inside & out (that scar you rock… that right there and the stories behind it are sooo incredibly beautiful). R, yes Q has a big story to tell… but guess what?!?! You do too… You’re a HUGE part of her story… your love and tenderness to your sister during everything is such a testimony and I know has reminded me time and time again how much God loves us. It shows us no matter if we are young or old that God works & uses His children ALL THE TIME and He doesn’t care what age they are. R & Q, I can not wait to see how God continues to work in y’alls lives and how He continues to use the two of you to reach others. You two… are amazing!! I know that was a lot of remembering and rambling to the masses… but I want y’all to know how much y’all mean to me and how much y’all lives have impacted my life!! I love you two soo soo much!! It has been a blessing and an honor to be part of y’alls lives!!! I really can’t wait to see what plans God has for y’all!!!
Alright, I’m done walking down memory road and ready to show y’all these two cuties photos!! I met up with them at a park in Richmond and we had a blast!!! The weather was amazing and R & Q were just so much fun to photograph!!!!!!!
